Met Gala 2015 Fashion Review

The Met Gala is one of my favorite fashion events of the year. I love going to the Met when I am in New York and always to look forward to this ball for the red carpet. If you are fashionably illiterate (no offense) and do not know what the Met Gala is, I have made a little information paragraph just for you *blows kiss*

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City that has been going on since 1971. It is one of the most anticipated events on the New York social calendar and marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. Each year's event celebrates the theme of that year's Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night since guest are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit.

Last year's theme was Charles James. I checked out the exhibit on my last trip to the city with my friends from fashion camp. So beautiful. Hopefully I'll be able to check out this years exhibit this summer. This year, the theme was "China: Through the Looking Glass", which was a bit obvious if you saw any pictures from last night.
Posted below are my thoughts on fashion from the gala with a rate on a scale of 1-7.  I picked outfits that had at least a little modesty. Which leads me to Beyoncé.Sometimes the woman is so classy when it comes to fashion and other times she is just not. Her dress was very revealing, which is why I will not be posting the picture. Please know that I am not judging her, just the dress. God Bless her musically talented soul. But there I was waiting for her to make her BIG late entrance, and boom, all that skin, right in  my innocent face. Lol, I even saw an article on E! that said she looked like she was channeling a Lisa''Left Eye'' Lopes' Throwback Outfit From the 1997 MTV VMAs. DEAD.

Love her.
Hair on fleek.
Cape, though not Rihanna par, is also on fleek.
Modesty Note: cover midriff.

Simple Silhouette, Nice detailing, I like it. Obviously, a more modest version would minus the midriff cutout and I'm thinking short sleeves in the same beading as the neck thingy.

Chrissy Teigen and BAE
Rate: Chrissy 6, John Legend 7
Modesty Note: Elegance with the exception of a bit of cleavage.

The theme of this look is cat. I hope she is having fun. And I am loving her eyebrows and the boots, but that is about it.

I actually like this dress, even with the big satin bow on top. Pumps are lovely.
Modesty Note: Add a long sleeve navy mesh top underneath.

These people are from Annie!!!
Rose's dress has beautiful detailing and it's my new fav color, oxblood. She did it right by pairing it with simple heels.I like that the hint of brown in Bobby's suit complements her dress.
Modesty note: Higher V-neck, Lower slit.

This dress is so fun I love it. The headpiece is awesome but I could do without the arm cuff and ginormous rings.

Helen Mirren

You can never go wrong with Dolce & Gabbana.
Modesty Note: Nude Lining

The only reason she was given a 7 is because her outfit is what the Met Gala is all about. This is what I look forward to. The wow factor of this cape is just YAASSS. Love the shoes. Cute hair. Could do without the pushup bra.

Lately I have really been feeling the minimalist trend. So much that I devoted an entire Pinterest board to it. And not just as a temporary thing either, I am strongly considering redesigning my wardrobe. There is just something so chic and edgy about a closet of simplicity. The funny thing is that it would be the exact opposite of what my wardrobe is right now. I mean, forget evolving, my style seems to be doing a complete turn around.

But I honestly think it would be worth it. Less colors= more combinations= less clothes= more money for shoes, bags, gifts, music, books, instruments, etc. My plan is to fill my closet up with mostly black and white garments, with neutrals and a few deep colors such as navy and oxblood. Clean, sleek silhouettes. Nothing too fussy. It is going to take a while, and I might have to let go of some stuff. Slowly but surely, I'll get there. Below I have posted some inspiration picks. Also check out my Pinterest for more.
