DailyLook

Untitled #2

As I mentioned a few posts back, I decided I would try a couple months of a styling subscription box called DailyLook Elite. How it works is that when you sign up, you take a style profile quiz so the stylist gets a feel for the things you would like. Your personal stylist selects items based on your preferences and sends 6-10 items to your door every month. The $20 monthly styling fee applies towards items that you keep. And for the free trial, your first two months are waived. My first box finally came and as promised, here it is.
My stylist, Sonja, did a fantastic job with my box. In my style profile, I told her about wanting to build a minimalistic wardrobe, and I think she was spot on. My box had 8 items worth a total of about $510.  I didn't keep anything because they were out of my price range. However, if you want the shoes, I did find them at Steve Madden on sale for A LOT cheaper. Your Welcome ;) I have included links for each of the items, given they are still on the site. If you think you might want to try a DailyLook Elite Box trial, feel free to sign up with this referral link: http://fbuy.me/coyvR

Wishful Wishlists Wednesdays | Midi Dresses

Hey loves, I am starting a new series called "Wishful Wishlist Wednesdays".  I have extensive wishlists on almost all the websites I shop on and I decided to share some with you. Different editions could be pretty random from wardrobe to room decor to books and records. Sometimes I'll post attainable items I plan on buying, others might be distant wants on a planet separate from my humble budget. You can guess ;) Today's theme is Midi Dresses.
Hookup: For my fellow online shoppers, a great tool for combining your online wishlists is the website, Shoptagr. You can save and organize your items your items with a simple browser extension. They also notify you when the items are on sale, as well as stock changes. Plus, it's free!
You should definitely go check it out.
Lets get to it!

That's all folks!

Pérez Art Museum Miami

Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is a fairly new contemporary art museum on Biscayne Blvd. I've really been wanting to go and they have free admission every second Saturday and first Thursday. So of course I went as soon as possible. I love art; I love museums; and I LOVE free. We had a fantastic time. A great way to end our week of consecration. Definitely going back soon (obviously on a second Saturday or first Thursday). The architecture of the outside is spectacular and I really enjoyed their numerous exhibits and galleries. Very modern, minimalist vibes. Their onsite cafe, Verde, was delicious; a new fave brunch spot. The pancakes were incredible!  Here are some pics from the visit. Also check out my Instagram ;)

HIATUS UPDATE

Hey loves. Wow it has really been forever since we last spoke. I've been doing some "soul keeping" and between school ending and finals I've been somewhat occupied. That's no excuse, I know. Never again without letting you know beforehand I promise :) So this post is sort of like an update of what I've been doing lately.

taking pictures of the sky

No, literally. I have been doing this a lot lately. I have an album on my phone with 22 photos so far. The sky has always mesmerized me, but recently I have just been getting lost in their beauty. Rain or shine. Cloudy or clear. I tell ya, my God is amazing.

reading

I actually was quite a big reader when I was younger. At the library/bookstore every Saturday. I do not go to the library as often but I still love the bookstore. I just get a cozy feel whenever I walk into Barnes & Noble. I've also realized that I'm more interested in nonfictions. The last fiction book I think I read was Paper Towns last year. The last two books I read were Not A Fan by Kyle Idleman  and The Measure of a Man by Sidney Poitier. I am currently reading To Be Popular or Smart: The Black Peer Group by Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu. It was not my first time reading Not a Fan, a book I totally recommend. I just felt I needed a refresh. The book talks about having a personal relationship with the Lord, beyond the church doors, beyond the standards, beyond the religion. The highlighted question throughout the book was Fan or Follower? Which describes the relationship you have with Jesus Christ? The Measure of a Man by Sidney Poitier was very inspiring. He has learned such wisdom in his time on earth. I was just a bit surprised by some of his vocabulary choices.

celebrations

My great-grandparents celebrated their 85th and 86th birthdays last month. One day after the other. I love them. God really blessed me with a wonderful family.

boxed water

Yes, I paid $16 for water. I am not ashamed. I decided that with all this shopping I seem to be doing, I might as well do something to benefit something other than my own wants/needs, you know? If you do not know what in the world I am referring to, here is a link http://www.boxedwaterisbetter.com/. Basically, instead of plastic, this company uses trees to create their containers. These containers, or cartons, are recyclable and for their ReTree project, they plant 2 trees for every picture of their bottle posted with the hashtag " #retree".

sketching

I have been doing a lot of sketching, but not fashion designs. Just pictures and phrases that speak to me. Sketching calms me, and I sorta forgot how good I was, haha. Still contemplating whether I should share them, because some are a bit personal but we'll see.

devotions

Lately I have been meditating a lot over the book of Ecclesiastes. Life is truly meaningless without God. He is eternal, everything else on this earth will one day either turn to dust or be forgotten.

learning the uke !!!

Lol, so I bought this adorable $30 uke from ebay. And I love it! I named it TJ after Tyler Joseph, my fave ukelele player. Madre says ukeleles are not real instruments but they so totally are! TJ was just to get a feel for the instrument. I'm saving up now to get a professional Greg Bennett uke because I am in love.

house hunting

We're not planning on moving any time soon. But, it sure is nice to look. Especially when they are gorgeous estate homes with lots and lots of square footage.

blurryface

Ok, so Twenty One Pilots has been one of my favorite bands for quite some time. Vessel was such a great album. And then Tyler and Josh started putting up audios for a couple of the songs on blurryface. Then, the video for Tear in My Heart was released. Then, blurryface was available on iTunes, and that was it. I was listening to it over and over for like a straight week and a half. But then, they performed on the Jimmy Kimmel show and became the  No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. So its safe to say their not "my little secret" anymore. But, I'm proud of them both.

wholesale sites

I've stumbled on a few more Asian wholesale shopping websites. Haven't made any purchases yet, but when I do, rest assured there will be a post with reviews.

forever 21

Forever 21 used to be my favorite store when I was younger. But then, everyone started to shop there, and I couldn't do it so I stopped going there all together. I has been like 5 years I think. Recently, I have been window shopping online, and they have some cool stuff, especially in the Contemporary section. I bought a pair of Chelsea booties and a summer dress. Slowly but surely building my minimalist wardrobe. :)

dailylook elite box trial

I decided I would try a couple months of a styling subscription box. And I love the things DailyLook carries. How it works is that when you sign up, you take a style profile quiz so the stylist gets a feel for the things you would like. Your personal stylist selects items based on your preferences and you get 6-10 items sent to your door every month. Your $20 monthly styling fee applies towards items that you keep. And for the free trial, your first two months are waived. My stylist seems really cool and my box is supposed to arrive sometime this week. A review/unboxing will be posted of course.
